There's a human face to our origins, that of Gino Vescovi, who as a 12-year-old boy from Padua was obliged to move to France to work as a bricklayer and support his large family. The time spent in France was filled with hardships and suffering, which taught young Gino a lot and moulded his character with gritty determination and a strong work ethic. It was precisely these qualities that guided him, once back in Padua, in his new adventure: the opening of a coffee shop, where he experimented with different aromas, techniques and flavours.
Driven by a desire to redeem himself after so many years in the service of someone else, he longed to say that he was the creator of something great, important and his own.
A new world opened up for Gino Vescovi. Through almost obsessive research, he worked on creating a perfect and unique blend of coffee with an aroma that would entrance anyone visiting his little shop in Vicolo Dotto, in the heart of Padua. This passion led to concrete results shortly afterwards: the young man created Grani d'Oro, a refined blend that he considered part of himself and that, a few years later, was acclaimed at the International Exhibition in London, where it received the Grand Prix and the Gold Medal. By 1960 the company founded in the small Vescovi workshop had moved to a futuristic plant in Via Vicenza, a short stroll from the city centre.
The vision of our founder Gino Vescovi has been kept very much alive by his successors.
Putting to use the experience gained in more than ninety years of business, we make our blends with care and passion, combining craft processes handed down from father to son with the most modern production techniques and with an eye to the future.
Creativity and refinement combine in what we see as a real art, the result of a careful selection of the most prized origins of Arabica and the profound knowledge and care of people who have always strived to create a unique product.
Our brand is the natural expression of the constant research we conduct to perfect the quality and enhance the passion of our work: it is something we want to share with coffee aficionados throughout the world.
We want to provide every establishment with the necessary tools not only to make excellent coffee, but also a comprehensive experience inside our world.
